“And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.” – Luke 2:16-17

The shepherds, upon hearing the angel’s message, did not delay. They went “with haste” to see the Savior for themselves. Their encounter with Christ moved them to action, they told others what they had seen and heard. The birth of Jesus filled them with such joy that they could not keep it to themselves.

Their example challenges us today. How often do we hear the message of Christ and remain unmoved? The shepherds remind us that the proper response to Christmas is both worship and witness. Once they met Jesus, they spread the good news everywhere they went.

As we celebrate Christmas, we are called not only to receive Christ but also to make Him known. The joy of salvation is too great to be hidden, it must be shared.

Pray for boldness and joy in sharing the message of Christ’s birth with others, and ask God to open doors for gospel conversations this Christmas.
