The Healing of the Leper
1. And when He came down from the mountain, great crowds followed Him.
2. And behold, a leper came and was bowing before Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You are able to cleanse me.”
3. And stretching out His hand, He touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed,” and immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
4. And Jesus says to him, “See that you tell no one, but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.”
The Healing of the Centurion’s Servant
5. And when He entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, appealing to Him.
6. And he was saying, “Lord, my servant has been laid in the house paralysed, terribly tormented.”
7. And He says to him, “I will come and heal him.”
8. And the centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof, but only speak a word, and my servant will be healed.”
9. “For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me, and I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
10. And Jesus, hearing, marveled and said to those following, “Truly I say to you, with no one in Israel have I found such faith.”
11. “And I say to you that many from east and west will come and recline with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.”
12. “But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into the outer darkness; there will be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.”
13. And Jesus said to the centurion, “Go; as you have believed, let it be done for you.” And the servant was healed in that hour.
The Healing of Peter’s Mother-in-law and Many Others
14. And when Jesus came into Peter’s house, He saw his mother-in-law lying down and fevered.
15. And He touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose up and was serving Him.
16. And when evening came, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed, and He cast out the spirits with a word and healed all those having illness.
17. So that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying, “He took our illnesses and bore our diseases.”
The Desire to Follow Jesus
18. And Jesus, seeing great crowds around Him, gave orders to depart to the other side.
19. And a scribe came and said to Him, “Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.”
20. And Jesus says to him, “Foxes have dens and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”
21. And another of the disciples said to Him, “Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father.”
22. But Jesus says to him, “Follow Me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.”
The Calming of the Storm
23. And when He entered into the boat, His disciples followed Him.
24. And behold, a great shaking came upon the sea, so that the boat was being covered by the waves; but He was sleeping.
25. And they came to Him and woke Him, saying, “Lord, save us; we are perishing.”
26. And He says to them, “Why are you fearful, you of little faith?” Then rising, He rebuked the winds and the sea, and there came a great calm.
27. And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”
The Healing of the Two Demon-Possessed Men
28. And when He came to the other side, into the region of the Gergesenes, two demon-possessed men met Him, coming out from the tombs, extremely fierce, so that no one was strong enough to pass by that way.
29. And behold, they cried out, saying, “What to us and to You, Jesus, Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?”
30. Now far off from them was a herd of many pigs feeding.
31. And the demons were begging Him, saying, “If You cast us out, send us into the herd of pigs.”
32. And He said to them, “Go.” And coming out, they went into the pigs, and behold, the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and died in the waters.
33. And those tending them fled, and going into the city they reported everything, including the things of the demon-possessed men.
34. And behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus, and seeing Him, they begged that He would depart from their region.
