Judging Others
1. Do not judge, so that you may not be judged.
2. For with the judgment you judge, you will be judged, and with the measure you measure, it will be measured in return to you.
3. And why do you look at the splinter that is in your brother’s eye, but the beam in your own eye you do not consider.
4. Or how will you say to your brother, “Let me remove the splinter from your eye,” and behold, the beam is in your own eye.
5. Hypocrite, first remove the beam from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the splinter from your brother’s eye.
6. Do not give what is holy to the dogs, nor throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them with their feet and turn and tear you to pieces.
Ask, Seek, Knock
7. Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
8. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.
9. Or what person among you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone.
10. Or also, if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake.
11. Therefore, if you, being evil, know to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask Him.
12. Therefore, all things you want people to do to you, likewise also do to them; for this is the Law and the Prophets.
The Narrow Way
13. Enter through the narrow gate; because wide is the gate and broad is the way leading to destruction, and many are the ones entering through it.
14. For narrow is the gate and constricted is the way leading to life, and few are the ones finding it.
A Tree and Its Fruit
15. Beware of the false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
16. By their fruits you will know them. Do people gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles.
17. So every good tree produces good fruits, but the rotten tree produces bad fruits.
18. A good tree is not able to produce bad fruits, nor is a rotten tree able to produce good fruits.
19. Every tree not producing good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
20. So then, by their fruits you will know them.
True and False Disciples
21. Not everyone saying to Me, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one doing the will of My Father who is in the heavens.
22. Many will say to Me on that day, “Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name do many mighty works.”
23. And then I will declare to them, “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who work lawlessness.”
The Wise and Foolish Builders
24. Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine and does them will be compared to a wise man who built his house upon the rock.
25. And the rain came down, and the rivers rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.
26. And everyone hearing these words of Mine and not doing them will be compared to a foolish man who built his house upon the sand.
27. And the rain came down, and the rivers rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and its collapse was great.
The Authority of Jesus
28. And it happened, when Jesus finished these words, the crowds were astonished at His teaching.
29. For He was teaching them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.
