The Birth of Jesus the Messiah
18. Now the birth of Jesus Messiah happened in this way. When His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found to be pregnant from the Holy Spirit.
19. And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man and not wishing to publicly disgrace her, intended to send her away secretly.
20. But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for what has been conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.”
21. “And she will bear a son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
22. And all this happened in order that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled.
23. “Behold, the virgin will conceive and will bear a son, and they will call His name Emmanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”
24. And Joseph, having risen from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took his wife.
25. And he did not know her until she bore her firstborn son, and he called His name Jesus.
