The Christian’s New Life in Christ

If therefore you have been raised together with Christ, seek the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
Set your mind on the things above, not on the things on the earth.
For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ (who is our life) shall be revealed, then you also shall be revealed with him in glory.

Putting Off the Old Self

Put to death therefore your members which are on the earth: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness which is idolatry.
For because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience.
In which you also once walked when you were living in them.
But now you also put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy speech from your mouth.
Do not lie to one another, having put off the old man with his deeds,
and having put on the new, which is being renewed in knowledge according to the image of the one who created him;
where there is not Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all and in all.

Putting On the New Self

Therefore, as God’s chosen, holy and beloved, put on, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, patience,
bearing with one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a complaint against anyone; as the Lord forgave you, so also do you.
And above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which you were called in one body; and be thankful.
Let the word of Christ dwell richly in you, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms, hymns, spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Household & Work Instructions

Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.
Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing in the Lord.
Fathers, do not provoke your children, so that they may not become discouraged.
Slaves, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not with eye-service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord.
Whatever you do, do it from the soul, as to the Lord and not to men,
knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; you serve the Lord Christ.
For the one who does wrong will receive what is wrong for what he did, and there is no partiality.
