The Character of the Last Days
But know this: that in the last days difficult times will come.
For people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,
without affection, unwilling to reconcile, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving what is good,
treacherous, reckless, swollen with pride, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
having a form of godliness but denying its power. Turn away from such people.
For from among them are those who creep into households and take captive weak-willed women, burdened with sins and led by various desires,
always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
And just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth, people corrupted in mind, unapproved concerning the faith.
But they will not advance further; for their folly will be obvious to all, just as the folly of those men became obvious.
Paul’s Charge to Timothy
But you have followed my teaching, my conduct, my purpose, my faith, my patience, my love, my endurance,
my persecutions and sufferings, such things as happened to me in Antioch, in Iconium, in Lystra; what persecutions I endured, and the Lord rescued me from all of them.
Indeed, all who want to live in a godly way in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
But evil people and impostors will advance from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.
But you, remain in the things you have learned and have been convinced of, knowing from whom you learned them,
and that from infancy you have known the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
All scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness,
so that the person of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
