Psalm 91:2 says, “I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!”
Life often feels uncertain, unexpected storms come in the form of sickness, loss, or fear of the unknown. In these moments, God reveals Himself as Jehovah Machsi, The Lord My Refuge. A refuge is not just a shelter from the storm but a safe place where peace, security, and rest are found.
When David declared God as his refuge, he wasn’t free from enemies or hardships he was surrounded by them. Yet he learned to run to God instead of trying to fight in his own strength. In Christ, we too have that refuge: a place where no fear, guilt, or threat of the enemy can overtake us.
Today, ask yourself where do you run when life feels overwhelming? Do you run to distractions, self-reliance, or worry? Or do you run to Jehovah Machsi, your secure hiding place? Take time to bring your fears to Him in prayer, and picture yourself resting under His shelter. Trust that His presence is your safety, not just in eternity but right here and now.
Today let us pray this. Lord, thank You for being Jehovah Machsi, my refuge. Teach me to run to You first when storms rise, and help me find rest and strength in Your presence. Amen.
