When the darkness doth not lift
And the blackest cloud follows me
I think of His endless blessings and gifts,
of His loving correction and creation

O’ Lord may thou be my desire
Only and always to thee aspire
Grant me an everlasting peace,
Fears and cares to cease

When I am distracted, distressed, despondent
May I know your loving concern
And Lord, bring to my mind
“You will never, leave nor forsake me”

Darkness is no longer my closest friend,
He hath brought sorrows to an end
And when Satan’s says “you can’t cope”
My great heavenly Father grants me hope
