Date: The Acts ends with Paul’s earliest missionary journey to Rome, A.D. 65, it appears that the book was written at a similar time.

Theme: The Book of Church Missions. First Century Missions. Ascension and Promise of Christ to return. The Birth of the Church. The descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Martyrdom of Stephen (the first Christian martyr). Philip’s Ministry. The Conversation of Paul. The Ministry of Peter. The Missionary Journeys of Paul. The Council at Jerusalem. Paul Sent to Prison and Paul in Rome.

Background: The Acts of the Apostles is linked to the Gospel of Luke, as the apostle Luke is the author of both books. Luke wrote more of the New Testament than any of the other writers. He was the first historian of the early Church. Acts is the fifth book of the New Testament and tells of the founding of the Christian Church and the spread of the Gospel throughout the Roman Empire. This book is the first recorded writings of the history of the Christian Church. This book is important because it is the only inspired book of the beginning and early Church history. It is the book that bridges between the Gospels and the Epistles. The events in the Acts of the Apostles covers a period of 32 years.
