But each one must examine his own work, and then he will have reason for boasting in regard to himself alone, and not in regard to another.

Galatians 6:4

I am confident that at some time in your life, you have compared yourself to another individual and considered them superior to you. It is a serious error to evaluate our value or achievements based on someone else. Such comparisons frequently lead to feelings of jealousy and disappointments, causing us to resent another person’s success or blessings.

As a child, when you cleaned your room, I bet your parents would show you theirs, leading you to see that your room didn’t match their standards. This is similar to the Christian journey; we often measure ourselves against others who have engaged in Christian service and question why we don’t resemble them. God has a unique role and service planned for each of us, and they vary for everyone.

We ought to avoid comparing ourselves to others; but rather compare ourself to God’s standard. 2 Corinthians 10:12-13 says, “For we are not bold to class or compare ourselves with some of those who commend themselves; but when they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are without understanding. But we will not boast beyond our measure, but within the measure of the sphere which God apportioned to us as a measure, to reach even as far as you.”
