Holy Scripture instructs us on how to worship God correctly. We should carry out genuine worship as He has directed us in His Word. Our worship is a way to express our love, honour, and respect for His name. It is essential to maintain the purity of our worship, meaning we should not include anything in our worship that He has not designated in His Word. Similarly, we should not omit anything from the worship of God. Altering the worship by adding to or removing elements is sinful.

God has established the methods and means by which He is to be worshipped. The exclusive ways to worship Him are through the commandments revealed in His Word. These commandments include praying solely to God, reading the Bible, preaching and listening to His Word, singing Psalms and hymns, participating in the Lord’s Supper and baptism, fasting, educating children about God’s ways, and practicing personal discipline towards God.

In order to accept these divine ordinances, we need to be wholly convinced in our hearts, minds, and souls. God has explicitly prohibited the use of graven images in His Word. This indicates that our worship should focus solely on God, and any attempt to honour Him through means not designated by Him is sinful and unacceptable. It is our responsibility not only to worship God but to do so exclusively through the methods He has instructed us to follow. We should reflect on some of these methods commanded by God for our worship. Are we truly worshipping God in the way He has told us to?
