Our chief worship and praise ought to be directed to God and that anything we put in the place of worship other than God is displeasing to Him; God sees all things. This ought to be a comfort and a warning to us. Concerning comfort God is always with us. He has promised to never leave nor forsake us (Deut. 31:8 & Heb. 13:5). God is with us at all times. Regarding warning God who sees all things also knows all things. There is no such thing as a secret sin. God knows our hearts and minds. He knows us better than we know ourselves.
God is omniscient; He is all-knowing, all-wise and all-seeing. God is also omnipresent meaning He is present everywhere at all times. Psalm 139:7-8 says, “Where can I go from Thy Spirit? Or where can I flee from Thy presence? If I ascend to heaven, Thou art there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, Thou art there.” This is why we are to pray only to God as prayer is an act of worship. To pray to anything else but God is a form of idolatry and thus displeasing to the Lord.
The worship of any other god is such an affront to the glory of God that He will not share his glory with another. Isaiah 42:8 says, “I am the Lord, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, Nor My praise to graven images.” Let us worship the Lord in spirit and in truth. Let us serve Him as He ought to be. Remember our chief end is to bring glory to God and to enjoy the Lord forever. Before you start your day go before the Lord in prayer and honour His holy name.
