The question of justification focuses on sin’s guilt and forgiveness. Justification eliminates the penalties associated with sin. It involves a legal act where we are proclaimed righteous in the eyes of God because of Christ’s sacrifice for us. Through his crucifixion, Jesus Christ secured salvation for everyone who accepts him as their Lord and Saviour through faith. The believer’s guilt and sins are accounted to Christ, while his righteousness is generously attributed to the sinner by God’s grace.
Justification comes solely through faith. It is not something we can attain or strive for through our actions. We cannot achieve it or do anything to deserve it.
Justification is an act of God’s unmerited grace. All praise should be directed to God for our salvation. Ultimately, it is God who justifies us. Romans 8:33-34 states, “Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies; who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.” Romans 3:24 says, “being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus.”
Let us appreciate the magnificence of God’s grace in our justification. God was not obligated to restore sinners to Himself. He could rightfully condemn us all to everlasting damnation, yet He chose otherwise. In His mercy, God decided to redeem sinners by sending Christ as the Saviour for sinners. As stated in Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast.” Our justification comes solely from the righteousness of Christ attributed to us. Today, let us express our gratitude and worship to God for His grace. Let us find our praise in Christ. Let us praise God for the gift of salvation.
