Aside from the one true God described in Holy Scripture, no other deity exists. From this, we can infer that atheism, polytheism, pluralism, and pantheism are all incorrect beliefs. Atheism claims there is no God, while polytheism acknowledges many gods. Pluralism argues that there are numerous paths to God and that all religions have equal validity. Pantheism asserts that everything is divine. Psalm 36:1 states, “Transgression speaks to the ungodly within his heart; There is no fear of God before his eyes.” The Bible indicates that the ungodly conceal the truth of God through their unrighteous actions (Romans 1:18-32). The existence of morality in humans points to the law of God and our divine Creator, as morality is not a characteristic found in the animal kingdom.
When a lion hunts and consumes a gazelle, there is no demand for justice or retribution. In contrast, when a homicide occurs, there is a strong call for justice to be served. It is a lie of the devil to suggest that humans are simply advanced apes. This is why denying God is considered foolish (Psalm 14:1). We must refrain from idolatry. 1 John 5:21 cautions, “Little children, guard yourselves from idols.” An idol isn’t exclusively a statue made of wood or metal; it can also be a conception of God that we create in our minds that doesn’t align with Scripture. When we imagine a god in our minds, we violate the first commandment. The intention of the heart is crucial as well. If we are merely acting out the practices of true faith, we miss the essence of genuine worship of God. Additionally, it’s important to recognise the existence of false religion. Worshipping and honouring a god different from the one described in Scripture constitutes false religion. Isaiah 42:8 states, “I am the Lord, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, Nor My praise to graven images.”
