As Christians, we experience numerous blessings in this life. Through justification, we are forgiven for our sins and receive God’s love and peace, which brings us joy. We are liberated to serve God by His divine grace. In adoption, we experience God’s love akin to that of a father’s love for his children, and we find peace in our relationship with Him as part of His family. This connection gives us joy through the Holy Spirit. Being members of God’s family allows us to grow in grace as His children, with the promise of one day residing in His eternal home.

In the process of sanctification, God continually transforms us into the likeness of His Son. This transformation stems from His love and His desire for us to lead holy and righteous lives, providing us with peace and comfort. As mentioned in 2 Corinthians 3:18, “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.” The Lord, who initiated this wonderful work within us, will see it through to completion.

We have the reassurance of God’s love in this life. 1 John 3:1 states, “See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.” In this life, we have hope and peace that the world fails to understand. We find assurance in God’s love for us, as well as in the promises of His Word. 1 John 5:13 reassures us, “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.” It’s not uncommon to struggle with feelings of assurance, but we can be grateful that our salvation relies not on our own assurance, but on His eternal promises and His Word.

In this life, the Holy Spirit provides testimony that we are indeed children of God. Romans 8:16-17 notes, “The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.” As we navigate our daily lives, let us express our gratitude to God for the benefits and blessings we experience. We should always give glory to God for making us His children by adoption through faith in Christ.
