Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up. Furthermore, if two lie down together they keep warm, but how can one be warm alone?

Ecclesiastes 4:9-11

There is no shame in admitting that when you are alone you struggle. The Bible says that two are better than one. A married couple can testify to this truth. They help each other, they love each other, and they are an ever-present source of peace, joy, and support for each other. There is no shame in asking for help. We all need help in life whether that is an emotional need, a physical need, or a spiritual need.

Knowing we are not alone in life is a great comfort. We all need help from friends, family, and our spiritual brothers and sisters. There are times in life when only the Lord can help us. We can ask for prayer and support from each other, but there will be times when only Christ can help. The Lord Jesus Christ is the greatest source of comfort, support, hope, and strength.

Our friends and family can help in many ways, but only Christ can bring us near to God. Only Christ can satisfy our greatest needs and desires. Today let us give thanks to the Lord for all the blessings and hope he gives to us as children of God. May we be a blessing to each other in times of need. Consider the following questions before the Lord today.

  1. How has someone helped you?
  2. How can you be a blessing to someone in need?
  3. Is there someone close to you that you can help today?
