“Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness.”

Genesis 1:26

We all have a desire to be loved. This is how God made us. God created mankind with fellowship in mind, first with Him, then with each other. We cannot fully love each other until we experience the love of God. We experience the love of God when we surrender to His call to be our Lord and Saviour.

There are three reasons God desires our mind, heart, and soul.

Firstly, God loves us and wants to have a relationship with us. God’s desire is to have fellowship with us and for us to worship Him. 1 John 1:3 says, “what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.”

Secondly, He wants our service to be effective and fruitful. Psalm 100:2 says, “Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before Him with joyful singing.” When we serve God and obey Him our service will be effective and fruitful. A life completely surrendered to the will of God is most effective and brings us joy. Our joy comes from God.

Thirdly, He waits for the freedom to bless us. God does not force anyone to serve Him. God gives us the freedom to accept Him or to reject Him. We have a choice to make in life. The choice to walk in the ways of the Lord or to walk according to the course of this world. God’s rich blessings can only be experienced to the full if we are living in obedience to Him. Philippians 4:19 tells us that God will supply all our needs according to His riches. James 1:17 tells us, “Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.”
