Jeremiah 31:33-34 says, “But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” declares the Lord, “I will put My law within them, and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.“ And they shall not teach again, each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them,” declares the Lord, “for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”
Here the Prophet Jeremiah tells us that God will make his law known to his people by putting his law within them. One of the greatest blessings of God is the unmerited love which He shows to sinners. We serve a great God and He is much bigger than we think at times. We are often tempted to think of God in merely human terms. Jeremiah writes in verse 35, “Thus says the Lord, Who gives the sun for light by day, And the fixed order of the moon and the stars for light by night, Who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar; The Lord of hosts is His name.” It is difficult to think of God in merely human terms after reading this verse.
Our Lord and God will continue to reign over His creation. He will continue to work to redeem all of His people. The prophet wrote about this in verses 36-37. Today, as we go about our business let us thank the Lord for all that He has done and worship Him as He ought to be.
