I have confidence in you in the Lord, that you will adopt no other view; but the one who is disturbing you shall bear his judgment, whoever he is.

Galatians 5:10

The Churches of Galatia were in the region of central Asia Minor, a Roman province created by Augustus Caesar in 25 B.C. Many there heard the Gospel and were Gospel believers. However, many were confused and began to distort the truth of the Gospel message. Paul writes in Galatians 1:6-7, “I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel; which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you, and want to distort the gospel of Christ.” It is the joy of the enemy to sow seeds of doubt and confusion in the ranks of God’s people. This is especially dangerous to new believers. Established believers and Church members can also be taken in by lies and deceit.

Satan often drops a small amount of poison in the fresh and pure water of God’s truth. The most convincing falsehoods contain some truth. 1 John 4:1 says, “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” John warns us to not believe everything we are told. We are encouraged to put the things we are told to the test.

If we are unsure of the truth, ask those around us who are knowledgeable of Scripture. We can also pray for wisdom, ask the Spirit of God to protect us from false teachings, and read the Bible to prepare to defend the truth. There are many false teachings today. Some false teachings are that everyone is going to Heaven when they die, good works can purchase a place in Heaven, and that all religions lead to God. These are some of the many dangerous teachings today. Guard, protect and defend yourself by being a passionate Bible reader and prayer warrior.
