A second century heresy called Docetism denied the humanity of Christ. Docetism was based on Gnosticism. Docetism, a radical dichotomy between the physical and the spiritual realms, just like Gnosticism. Apollinarianism was also a heresy that denied the humanity of Christ. This was rejected by Gregory of Nazianzus and Athanasius in the 4th century at the council of Constantinople in 381AD.
