Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.

2 Timothy 4:2

Alas, we have reached a day and age in the United Kingdom where the vast majority of people regard the God of the Holy Bible as an immoral tyrant; a monster. What a sad discourse that God’s creation has taken such a view regarding their divine creator. This is an overwhelming reality in modern-day British life and society. This attitude adopted is prideful in nature. Rebellion and self-righteousness are at the heart of this depressing fact. May the Church have a burden to confront the spirit of the age, head on. In the power of the Holy Spirit hearts and minds shall be transformed.

God is not after your money, time, efforts, or point of view. He wants your heart, soul, and mind. He wants you, all of you. If God captivates you, you will want to serve Him with your money, time, and deeds. These come because of the change that has wrought in you. I say this because it appears to me that the society we find ourselves in views God wrongly. They see Him as one who wants something from us for His benefit alone. This is not true; the Christian life is for the good and benefit of both the sinner and God. The wretch that we are by nature bows to the authority of God and is made His treasure and pleasure. It is like a piece of coal transformed into the finest diamond.

John Newton is a good example of this. Prior to faith in Christ, he was in his own view a wretched sinner, but by the amazing grace of God he was transformed into a child of God. John Newton who was once lost was found, once blind but had his eyes opened. John Newton went on to write about the joy and peace men and women have in Christ because of that great change that has taken place. In Adam, every soul is lost, unclean, unfit for heaven, but in Christ, souls are found, washed whiter than snow, and presented before the King of Heaven as a son, an heir, a precious child with all the privileges of the family of God.

We have a great responsibility to God as His assembly. Think about this, there is a long list of those who are unashamed to propagate false religion as something of great worth. Yet the Church of God is uncomfortable about the truth of God. May the Church of God arise and do the work of an evangelist. May we wake up and do the work we are called to do. May we always be ready to give an answer for the hope, joy, and peace we have in Christ?
